Waiting quietly...

She sat with her hands folded
Wailing about thoughts that didn’t lead her anywhere…
Moments turned into hours and hours into days …
She thought at times she’d found a flight to her dreams…
But life kept twisting and turning and she was left wondering…

She saw and felt prayers being answered…
And yet her fears led her nowhere…
What was pulling her back time and again…
Why had she stopped expressing… stopped enjoying the little precious gifts of life…

With wings she thought she’d fly… and be lost in a beautiful world…
A world away from this world… a different world…
She doesn’t know what it is like to fly…
And she doesn’t know what the next minute would bring…
But deep down is her faith in someone who looks after the entire universe…
Who has always held her firmly and never let go…
He alone will give her wings the flight and allow her to fly one day…
She smiles quietly at this thought alone…

    The lines -

"With wings she thought she’d fly… and be lost in a beautiful world…
    A world away from this world… a different world…"

    - are very like how we could wish to accomplish in times where we are faced with a lot of turmoil and suffering. Just fly and leave.

The imagery immediately takes me to the book Jonathan Livingston Seagull - my favorite, by the way - and the yearning for something more, something greater. Oh, how many times have I felt this way.

    brilliant poem..
"He alone will give her wings the flight and allow her to fly one day…
She smiles quietly at this thought alone…"
your lines reminded of the famous line: "They also serve who stand and wait".
Thanks for sharing such a wonderful post.
